Boy London

Every Fall I find myself enter a dark place. I fall in love with dark nails, smokey eyes, and dark lips. This year, I've fallen in love with Boy London. The iconic fashion label that fueled the youth of the 1970's and 1980's is completely opposite of my way of dressing...but I think that's why I find it so appealing.

"From Warhol, to Madonna, Punks through to New Romantics, club kids to fashionistas, all have worn BOY. Adopted as the uniform of choice for every youth movement that has mattered, the brand has outlived them all, with the unmistakable spirit that underpins all things BOY remaining the same today as when it was first formed..."  -- William Wright

Arizona Muse x i-D Magazine

"Work hard and be nice to people." i-D Magazine features model Arizona Muse, photographed by Richard Bush, in its issue The Wise Up. The spread is immaculate. She can make such masculine pieces look so feminine, as she wears pieces by Jean Paul Gaultier, Marc Jacobs and Celine.

Thanksgiving Birthdays

It's one of my favorite times of year - not too cold, not too hot and the spirit of love is felt in the air. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving - good food, better drinks :)

I have everything to be thankful for. I've been fortunate enough to have an amazing foundation of friends and family to help guide me through it all, and to keep me smiling. My parents, sisters, brother-in-laws, boyfriend, friends...I love them all. I don't tell them how much they truly mean to me as much as I should. But I know in my heart how thankful I am.

We celebrated the holiday at my house. My sisters came with their husbands, and their kids. It also happened to be my Kuya (Filipino for older male figure) Ivan's birthday, making the day extra special. We ate our weight in food, which I know we'll all regret in a few days, and sang our hearts out during karaoke. It was the first Thanksgiving that we've all been together in a few years, and it was the best I think I've ever had.

Vulture

Vulture Magazine is full of amazing photography. I found these especially captivating. I wish to work on shoots like this in the future...the near future.

Ann Street Studio

Fashion done right is a form of art. I've been following Ann Street Studio for a while now, but I hadn't logged on for quite some time until today. I love the videos, beauty, and fashion editorial portions of their website. This recent post, Wearing Zac Posen, encompasses all of my favorite things - Zac Posen gowns, simple backgrounds, and dark lips.

In a few years from now, I hope to get married wearing a Zac Posen gown. So this shoot is especially special to me. The shots are brilliant.

Mikken Jensen x Nylon Mexico

Happy Monday!

I should really start reading Nylon Magazine Mexico more often. I fell in love with this set of photographs, and I'm glad I was able to find them online as well.

Model: Mikken Jensen
Photographer: Kristiina Wilson

I've come across Mikken in a few other photo spreads, but I like him in this one particularly. I just wish they showcased his chest tattoo in one of the frames. Can't win them all though, right? He's wearing an amazing Osklen hoodie in one of the shots, which I love. I intern at Fiftytwo Showroom down in TriBeCa, and Okslen's one of the designers we host - I've become obsessed with them I think, and Brazil in general.

Karmaloop x Holiday Campaign x Coupon Code

KARMALOOP.COM - I don't know anyone who loves street style and hasn't browsed their website at least ten times. They released their holiday campaign for 2012 a while ago, but I didn't really take a look at it until tonight. I'd give anything to help style one of their shoots - one day, one day.

Tis' the season to shop online. If you love Karmaloop as much as I do, I have an extra treat for you :)

Turtle Bay

I wish I had more photographs from the other night. Allison - the cutie in the plaid - pretty much bribed me to go out with her with fruity drinks and good music. Who could say no? I've told my boyfriend that I've become such a homebody lately, so I've been making more of an effort to go out.

Destination: Turtle Bay Tavern, Midtown.

I stood online for a good three minutes before making my way to the front. It was PACKED. A few frats were in the building, some birthdays, and the occasional "I drank too much" go-getters. I had no complaints. Although, I do apologize for my lack of makeup, flat hair, and semi-asian glow depicted above.

The other photograph is of my boyfriend, who doesn't know that picture exists or that I'm posting it on my blog. But doesn't he look adorable when he eats? :) We ended up going to Empanada Mama after leaving Turtle Bay at 3am. We didn't make it home until around 5:30, and I fell asleep after the sun came up. It was a good night.

Sunday vol. 1

I don't do anything on Sundays. I'm lazy, I wake up late, I play loud music, and I watch movies while I eat. That's pretty typical. I've been starting to online shop for some new additions to my wardrobe. I think I've reached the 'I hate everything I own' phase in my life. Then again, I reach that phase every few months. I wouldn't mind wearing these heels everyday during the winter - they look comfy (enough).

I've been listening to the same playlist of songs for the entire day. Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, and Miguel top the list for me.

And I've been trying to get some work done for classes. Having them only two days a week, and looking forward to Thanksgiving at home really makes it hard to focus on anything. I do recommend reading Elements of Moral Philosophy or watching the documentary U.N. Me. I love documentaries - my boyfriend would agree.

I don't see him enough these days. We live in the same city, but on polar opposite sides. And we both juggle a million things at once. 'Distance makes the heart grow fonder.' Now I know why people say that.

Leah Labelle x Complex Magazine

Leah Labelle. I remember when I first came across her YouTube page in 2009 - I couldn't stop watching her videos. Her voice is beautiful. Three years later, I'm sitting on my bed reading Complex Magazine and I find her feature. It made me go back onto her YouTube page and re-watch the videos I'd jokingly sing along with...still singing along, of course. It was a nice way to spend a Sunday morning.

Here's one of the first videos I had ever watched by Ms. Labelle - it was and still is my favorite.

Ms. Del Rey

LANA DEL REY. She has soul - the badass type. And she has an amazing aura. There isn't one look that I can't imagine her pulling  off. I admire Lana as a musician and style muse. I can't get enough of her recent collaboration with H&M. But today, I thought of a quote from one of her songs that kind of defines how I look at life.

"Every night I used to pray that I'd find my people - and finally I did - on the open road. We have nothing to lose, nothing to gain, nothing we desired anymore - except to make our lives into a work of art."
